Through the crooks and turns of life, I eventually entered the world of public education. Prior to this time, I attended Sam Houston State University, entered the Houston Police Academy and served the City of Houston as a Houston police officer for eight years. I later attended Prairie View University and obtained my education degree in 1996. Returning back to my home town and alma mater,  my first teaching position was with Waller High School. I am returning for my twentieth year.. In December of 2009, I graduated from Lamar University with my Master's of Education in Teacher Leadership.
In 2000 I was honored to be chosen by my peers as Teacher of the Year for the high school campus and later selected as the Secondary Teacher of the Year for the district.
I love being in the classroom, instilling the love of learning to my students, but I find I learn from my students as well. Above my classroom door hangs a banner which states, "Be a Life Long Learner". I want each student to leave my classroom being inspired to do their best, striving to earn their best, and willing to give their best in all areas of their lives.
As I enter my twentieth year at WHS, I cannot think of a better place to be!! The faculty/staff/English department/Dr. Merrell and especially the students make working here a blessing every day!!
